About me

I'm Associate Professor at the University of Leeds. I research the philosophy of biology, while teaching philosophy of science, philosophy of race and feminist philosophy*.

I started blogging in 2013 when my firstborn was a few months old and I lacked people to talk to - or rather, people to answer back. He now backchats constantly, and has a little sister. Since then I landed a permanent job, we moved across the country, and I've separated from their dad.

Seven years ago I wrote that I didn't know what the future held. "Will I fail as a mother, as an academic, or both?" Well, the story continues. I've failed at both, frequently, and as a wife too. But I persevere with two out of three, at least, and like to think I occasionally get something right.

I've always loved reading science fiction, being vegetarian, dancing all night and getting into arguments about how to fix the world. I love an extreme sport or two when, I'm allowed. I recently got into roller skating and wild swimming.

And I'm still in love with natural selection and the crazy shit it has produced. Join me as I try to figure it all out!

*see  my personal website ellenclarke.net for academic stuff and my google scholar page  and PhilPeople for my papers. I'm also on insta @elkobadelko twitter and wordpress. CV available on request!
